Looming Love

WARNING! None of the Fay male's proportions (except for his height in comparison to the human female) are correct!
This is a rough sketch idea that I plan on re-doing in the future, but they just look so darn cute! I had to share.

So where do halflings [link] such as Jaycub [link] come from? From love. It's rather unlikely, but every now and again it happens. Though they are different in so many ways, humans can find themselves drawn to Fay culture, while Fay can find themselves straying to live more like us.

The Fay believe in a practice of marriage not entirely familiar to us. They marry into spousal groups, group marriages you could call them. Within their extended collection the Fay are faithful; perhaps drifting away from one spouse while becoming closer to another, or perhaps even dividing themselves among a few spouses whom they relate and cherish over others. A human can enter one of these group arrangements, or Clans as they are often called by us humans, though it can prove challenging. More often then not the Fay embrace their new wife or husband with ease, while the entering human feels confused... Emily Post would likely offend someone by the end of the day, too, if put into such a situation.
And for this, a cross-species romance between Man and Fay has often been described as dramatic, passionate and very short lived...

The concept of Fay being in a marriage arrangement of 40 or more individuals has also lead to a cultural misunderstanding; While Fay stay in a Clan for life and remain loyal to the group as a whole, Humans more often assume the practice is an excuse to be highly promiscuous. While Fay have always insisted it isn't so, many humans and other aliens don't quite believe their sincerity.
