It turned me from saying; "Why, Japan, Why?!" (at the sight of many television commercials) to; "Oh, that's Japan alright!".

Japanarama was/is a documentary series hosted by Jonathan Ross that was broadcast on BBC between 2002 and 2007, highlighting Japanese traditional culture and pop culture. It is one of the most amazing, insightful and cheeky shows about Japan I have ever seen. Even though the episodes contain some outdated information (and some occasional explicit 18+ / NSFW content), I would still recommend this series to anyone who ever wanted to understand Japanese society, tradition and how it comes together to make modern Japanese pop culture.
